79, 057, 222 total cases

1, 737, 748 deaths

55, 648, 450 recovered

One word. Shocking. The cases seem to be increasing day by day. Recently, it is reported that the United States has over 18, 917, 152 cases making it the country with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19.

So, why does the virus seem to be growing rapidly?

#1: Not practicing good hygiene

This should be pretty much self-explanatory at this point. You need to practice good hygiene such as washing hands frequently, keeping a safe distance from people, not touching sensitive parts of the body such as the eyes, and cleaning or disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces. According to a 2008 meta-analysis in the American Journal of Public Health, these measures have shown to reduce respiratory illnesses by 21%.

#2: Not Staying At Home When Sick

Although you may not have coronavirus— even when you feel a bit sick, you should definitely consider staying at home. Even if you have a slight cough or fever, you should stay home, as you cannot put other’s lives at risk by making a prediction that the cough will go away in 2 days. Most importantly, visit the doctor to assure that it is not the symptoms of coronavirus. I have seen a lot of friends that go out when they don’t fee that well, as they take it very lightly. Understand that you are not the expert and cannot take an uneducated guess, even if it's something really small. Another way to check is to use certified sources to check the symptoms of the virus.

#3: Unnecessary Outing

I think now would be the perfect time to limit your outing and stay at home. After all, there has been extensive growth in the number of cases this month. It would be certainly wise to stay at home whenever you have a chance to do so. That does not mean completely self-isolating yourself, but only going out if there is an emergency or an urgent thing. Going to movies, restaurants, and other public places should be highly prohibited. Again, health is wealth so do not take it for granted. If you do not go out and have fun for a couple of months, it wouldn’t really hurt. After all, it is not just for your safety but for others too!

#4: Not Following The Required Protocols

Let’s say that you decided to go out and buy some groceries for the house, you need to follow the required protocols of leaving the house. Some of them include, always wearing a mask, avoiding close contact, carrying hand sanitizers, and try your best to not touch any objects or surfaces. You need to follow these guidelines as they will surely help reduce the number of COVID cases.

#5: Believing Conspiracy Theories

Stop believing things you see on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, or Whatsapp. If you really want to know about something or need advice, contact health professionals instead of asking other people on social media. Recently, Whatsapp has been considered viral for the amount of misinformation related to coronavirus. There have been multiple cases where people spread false information about the virus such as the ultimate cure for it. People spread information that is basically from their own point of view, and not the actual statistics or facts. So, it is highly recommended that you do not waste your time believing these conspiracies, and instead seek advice/help from a professional.
